It is the first day of spring and SNOWING!

Preparing your car for spring and summer is easy, with these 10 tips.


  • Wash your vehicle thoroughly to get rid of any salt or de-icer. Be sure to pay special attention to the undercarriage and other nooks and crannies, like door jams and hood and trunk areas. 
  • Check your tires. Tire pressures change 1 lb per every 10 degrees. Your owner’s manual will be able to assist you with determining the proper pressure.
  • Are your wiper blades in good shape? After a rough winter they may need replacing or perhaps just a good cleaning. With spring showers upon us soon you will need them in good working order.
  • Rotate your tires. This is such a simple way to extend the life of your tires.
  • Don’t forget to change your oil and filter, as the weather warms most manufacturer s recommend a heavier weight oil to better withstand the rising temperatures.
  • Change the air filter. With all the dirt, sand, salt, etc on the roads all winter long it is a great way to ensure your car stays in good working order and can even improve your gas mileage.
  • Flush your cooling system. Nothing is worse than an over heated car on a hot day.
  • Make sure your radiator and gas caps are nice and snug. Replace any caps that look warn or are not fitting properly.
  • Battery and spark plugs can corrode over time; make sure that they are clean and tight.
  • Clean the cabin area. You have been in and out of the vehicle all winter long tracking in salt and such, this will prevent interior damage.
