Out for a lovely sight-seeing tour in the mountains, when it starts to pour or even snow! Or maybe you are on the way to a holiday gathering when the dry roads you had been traveling become slick with ice. What about the deer that jumps out in front of you? Are you covered?
Things to review at least once a year:
Deductible
Did you buy a new vehicle, maybe you should lower your deductible, or if your vehicle is a little older, maybe you want to raise your deductible. Maybe you will want to consider vanishing deductible - for every claim free year, your deductible decreases by $100 or accident forgiveness where you will not get a rate increase if you have an at fault accident?
Medical Coverage
Do you need it? How much do you need? What about others riding with you or those around you potentially involved in an accident? Health insurance cannot deliver the type of treatments and therapies due to soft tissue injuries like medical benefits on your auto policy can.
Liability
If you are just starting out make sure you consider the benefits of buying limits beyond the minimum state required limits, it could save you so much in the long run. If you are more financially established, you will want to increase your coverage to protect the assets you have accumulated.
Uninsured or Underinsured
Be sure to protect yourself against others who are not. This coverage applies to bodily injury that you might incur from an auto accident.
Discounts
Ask your agent if you qualify for any discounts, perhaps via an alumni, organization or even safe driver credit.
Miscellaneous
How about coverage if you are in accident for towing or even replacement value? Don't forget to ask about car rental coverage so that no matter what, you can keep on going - even when your car can't.
No matter what you drive/ride it is important to check your coverages before you need them. Contact your agentto ensure you are insured!
